Dearest gentle reader and music lovers let’s welcome back to our digital space US duo Steve and Dolapo. Steve and Dolapo are comprised of Dolapo Oladejo who does Songwriting, vocals, and backing vocals, and Steve Petrinko who does Songwriting, production, vocals, backing vocals, acoustic drums, electric and upright bass, acoustic and electric guitar, soprano, alto, tenor, and baritone saxophone, piano, vibraphone, world percussion, and synthesizers. This duo released an album called “Companion”, which was an amazing celebration of friendship that I will advise everyone to check out. The duo is back with a lovely new song titled “Give me the Music” on 30th July. Let’s talk more about this song
The song has a short but extremely fun and energetic intro where the instrumentation shines brightly making you curious about the rest of the song.
The song is a lively and upbeat song about the high or the rush that only music can bring(” brighter than the sun”). The song stresses the importance and the wholesome feeling that accompanies music. (” I feel alright like I’ve never felt before”). The persona in the song asks that the music he hears keep playing so that he can bask in its glory. The vocal range in the performance was just delightful. If you combine this flawless vocal performance with the song’s lyrics and instrumentation you get this foot-tapping tune that only proves that the message in the song is very very true, such an impressive feat achieved by this duo
The production is a blend of Quincy Jones, Albhy Galuten and Karl Richardson and there was an electric piano solo that is simply amazing. With everyone working overtime at what they do best, the duo has developed a bright, sunny, uptempo, funky, soulful, R&B-dance-pop melody that is guaranteed to boost you up spiritually and make you dance.
I am no stranger to this duo’s amazing talent. I can boldly say that this duo has only gotten better at what they do. The song has powerful and profound lyrics that will uplift you no matter what genre of music you are drawn to. What can I say? This song is a joyous celebration of music and its transformative power. I can go on and on and on about how talented they are and how their lyrics are educational and profound but I’d rather you listen to the song yourself and get a taste of Steve and Dolapo’s talent and musical skills
