Welcome one and all to our blog. Today we feature the work of iRO. iRO is a Brooklyn artist who is the focus of our blog today. This talented artist just released a song called “Lonely”. “Lonely”, was released on 8th August, Let’s discuss the details of the song
The song opens with a beautiful melody, intertwined with gorgeous mouth percussion. The music just pours into your soul, and convinces you to listen to the entire song
Let’s talk about the theme of the song. The song paints the picture of a broken relationship and the loneliness you feel after a breakup but, later, the song becomes inspirational, letting listeners know that they are not alone in their loneliness. Originally inspired by heartbreak, the song evolved into something quite different. A cinematic ballad that acknowledges the beauty that may arise from loss while also making room for it. In all honesty, there is a great loneliness that engulfs you after a breakup and, we appreciate this artist, for letting us know that, we are not alone and for making us feel seen.
Production-wise, this song is a soulful ballad that combines real vulnerability with cinematic production. iRO, known for his collaborations with Macklemore and Alok, releases his first solo track that is both intimate and grandiose. Built on stirring piano, swelling strings, and a soaring vocal delivery, “Lonely” expresses the pain of loss and grief quite beautifully.
With a Middle Eastern origin and a life formed by continents, iRO’s music is a fusion of East and West, with sophisticated melodies and multilingual storytelling alongside the raw simplicity of emotion. He enjoys creating complex, layered arrangements—but never at the expense of honesty. Even the cover art of the song sends a message. The cover art is a single flower and, there is a certain loneliness to this flower that ties into the meaning of the song
This song is about more than just loss; it is also about transmutation. Every note carries the weight of what iRO has been through, but it also leads to quiet resilience. It’s music that accompanies you through your grief and stays with you until you’re ready to return to the light, and it’s a cinematic ballad that acknowledges grief while highlighting the beauty that can emerge from it. I was captivated by the emotive nature of the song and the power of the lyrics. iRO is a genuine artist and I cannot wait to see what he does next!
