The popular sitcom will conclude in May with a one-hour finale.

The popular Big Bang Theory prequel will end its run after its upcoming seventh season, CBS said on Tuesday. The last season of Young Sheldon will debut on February 15, 2024, and conclude with an hour-long show on May 16 to say viewers farewell

The show, which centres on Iain Armitage as the teenage Sheldon Cooper, the main character of Jim Parsons’ Big Bang Theory, chronicles his exploits as a young genius in East Texas during the 1980s and 1990s. Sheldon’s family members are portrayed by Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Annie Potts, Montana Jordan, and Raegan Revord. In addition, Parsons narrates as an adult Sheldon

Parsons originally conceived the idea for Young Sheldon and brought it to the Big Bang Theory producers. The series premiered on CBS in 2016, airing on the same night as The Big Bang Theory for that show’s 11th and 12th seasons, and quickly became one of the most watched comedies on broadcast television.

Armitage also expressed gratitude to the Young Sheldon crew and the wonderful crew members on social media, writing, “Thank you, Young Sheldon crew and fantastic crew members.” We appreciate you and we love you.
