Everything to Know About Madame Web

No Comments News

Madame Web, the highly anticipated action-packed superhero movie from Sony Pictures, will be the first female-led Spider-Man spinoff when it opens in theatres next year, according to Deadline. As the title character, Dakota Johnson plays a mutant with psychic sensory abilities that let her foretell other superheroes’ futures throughout the cosmos. Her role in the movie is that of the comic book character Cassandra Webb, the original Madame Web’s protégé.

Web, an ageing blind comic book character, is dependent on a life support system due to her autoimmune disease, myasthenia gravis. Rather than endangering her own life in battle, she mentors others. According to the official movie summary, Madame Web is set in a different reality than the ones shown in the Venom films, the 2022 supervillain movie Morbius, and the Spider-Man films starring Tom Holland.

An official synopsis for the movie implies Madame Web takes place in another new universe. “Madame Web tells the standalone origin story of one of Marvel publishing’s most enigmatic heroines,” the synopsis reads. “Forced to confront revelations about her past, [Casandra] forges a relationship with three young women destined for powerful futures…if they can all survive a deadly present.”

As they work to stop Ezekiel from wrecking a future in which the teens also appear to be developing spider-related skills, Cassandra, the teens, and themselves come to understand that they are all interconnected and that Ezekiel is able to see the future.
