Netflix to Stream “The Old Man and the Pool” Comedy Special, Directed by Mike Birbiglia

The Old Man and the Pool,” Mike Birbiglia’s most recent comedy special, will air on Netflix. Nov. 21 marks the launch of the hour-long set on the streamer. In “The Old Man and the Pool,” Birbiglia “takes on life’s big questions: why are we here?” according to the official synopsis. What comes next? How much chlorine is being added specifically to the YMCA pool? After premiering on Broadway from November 13, 2022 to January 15, and in London’s West End from September 12 to October 7, the show is now heading to Netflix.

This marks Birbiglia’s fifth Netflix special, coming after 2008’s “What I Should Have Said Was Nothing,” 2013’s “My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend,” 2017’s “Thank God for Jokes” and 2019’s “The New One.” He is also known for writing, directing and starring in the 2012 film “Sleepwalk With Me” and the 2016 film “Don’t Thing Twice.” Birbiglia has held guest starring roles in series including “Orange Is the New Black,” “Billions” and “Human Resources,” and has appeared in the films “Your Sister’s Sister,” “The Fault in Our Stars” and “A Man Called Otto.”
